hey guys, here is another update seeing as now im back in australia and back hard in the shovelling

business..

i have been back in australia for the past 3 days and have spent most of my time in the 36 degree

heat (98 f) digging on the yard. over the past 6 months the jumps have got a floggin. all of the run

ups are erroded and clapped out so its gonna take a lot of time and effort to get the yard back to

good condition. but within the next 4 weeks she should be back up and running. its a lot of work

when doing it all solo.. but the end result is well worth it. speaking of which, im a head back out and

keep at it.. the jumps arent gonna dig em selves...see pic for the trick set slowly getting done.

Canadian Arenacross Championship Rounds 3 & 4

Nov. 13 & Nov. 14, 2009

Rounds 3 and 4 of the Nex Trax Canadian Arenacross Championships were action packed once again. This past weekend the Chilliwack’s Heritage Park built an intense and fast track. Word spread fast from last weekend and once again the Nex Trax Canadian Arenacross drew more pros from North America. The racing was tight and bar to bar action blew fans away.

Round 3

MX2 Main: Brady Sheren from Monster Energy Leading Edge Kawasaki Team placed 2nd and teammate Brock Hoyer finished 4th.

Open Main: Brock Hoyer starts off great with a holeshot and does his best to fight off Dusty Klatt. Hoyer finishes in 3rd, Brady Sheren goes down, and Kris Foster in 6th.

Round 4

MX2 Main: Tough race as Brock Hoyer gets a good start but crashes in the first turn and has to regroup fast. Brady Sheren pushed his way into 4th Hoyer finished in 5th and Kris Foster rounded off the team in 7th.

Open Main: This race was fast. Hoyer finds himself in the lead for a few laps but couldn’t fend off Dusty Klatt and Kyle Beaton finishing in 3rd. Brady Sheren had a mid pack start and fought his way into 4th.

A consistent round 3 and 4 for the Monster Energy Leading Edge Kawasaki Team. The team is looking forward to improving their results at the next Nex Trax Canadian Arenacross Championships on Dec. 19, 2009. See you there.

Hibbert will hit two exciting new venues on the AMSOIL Championship Snocross Series (ACSS) tour in Milwaukee and Salt Lake City. Monster’s Chad Reed is joined by Jeremy McGrath for an all-Monster Aussie SX 1-2 finish; Monster fuels Quiksilver/Eddie Aikau surf contest; Monster’s Adrien Chareyre wraps up FIM World Supermoto S2 title

A couple big name Monster-backed dirt bike racers – Chad Reed and Jeremy McGrath - got together for the fifth round of the 2009 Monster Energy Australasian Super-X this past weekend at Sydney, Australia’s Parramatta Stadium and brought the 12,200 in attendance to their feet with a spectacular 1-2 finish, respectively, in the finals.

With the win Reed moved to within one point of series points leader Jay Marmont, 107-108, with two rounds remaining in the series – including this weekend’s Nov. 21^st round at Waikato Stadium in Hamilton, New Zealand.

And while Reed won, McGrath, who has Australian heritage on his mom’s side of the family, whipped the fans into a frenzy by topping Marmont by a split second for 2^nd place in the Open class.

“I felt great on the bike tonight and I was going for jumps that I haven’t been attempting at the other rounds,” noted Reed. “The atmosphere and crowd tonight were fantastic and it’s so good to have Jeremy out here racing. I idolized him when I was a kid so it is really special.”

Quiksilver In Memory of Eddie Aikau, fueled by Monster Energy, Waimea Bay

Quiksilver today announced that Monster Energy will fuel the upcoming Quiksilver In Memory of Eddie Aikau surf contest at Hawaii’s legendary Waimea Bay. The contest will be held on one day, between Dec. 1, 2009 and Feb. 28, 2010, “when waves exceed the 20-foot minimum threshold,” according to a press announcement from Quiksilver. FIM World Supermoto Championships, Catalan Grand Prix

Monster Energy-backed Adrien Chareyre (Husqvarna) secured the overall FIM World Supermoto Championship’s S2 class title this past weekend at the Catalan Grand Prix. Chareyre would place second and was joined on the S2 class podium in the second of two races on the weekend by fellow Monster Energy-backed racer Mark Burkhart (KTM) in 3^rd. Overall Burkhart would place 2^nd and Chareyre, having wrapped up the S2 title, placed 4^th at Catalan. And in S1 class action, Adrien’s Monster-backed Husqvarna teammate, Thomas Chareyre, swept top honors in both races at Catalan and secured 2^nd place overall on the season.

Monster wakeboarder Bob Soven named Alliance Rookie of the Year

Looks like young Monster wakeboarder Bob Soven can lose the up-and-coming moniker associated with his name as it appears he’s now made it. Named recently as the Alliance (of Action Sports) Pro Wakeboard Tour Rookie of the Year, Soven will be golden for Monster in the wakeboard circles. “He’s the whole package – an unbelievable free rider with the best personality. Bob will be on top of many podiums,” said Monster’s Dave Smidt.

Chilliwack, B.C., Canada, Nov. 6 & Nov. 7

The Canadian Arenacross consists of amateur and pro racing, where young and old can show their stuff on Chilliwack’s Heritage Park indoor racing track. Also included is the always-popular head to head racing; this intense format consists of two pro names drawn out of a hat to battle each other for one lap. Winners of the head to head advance their way to the final for a dash for cash. With the presence of such hotshots as Cole Siebler from AMA Supercross, it can be said that this year’s Areacross has drawn many of today’s top riders to see how they fair up against the budding Canadian talent.

Round 1

MX2 Main: Brock Hoyer from Monster Energy Leading Edge Kawasaki Team placed 2nd. Brock is one of the most consistent racers in this series and is looking to win himself a championship this year.

Open Main: Had some very exiting action as racers battled hard and tight. In the end the Monster Energy Leading Edge Kawasaki Team finished with Brock Hoyer 3rd, Brady Sheren 4th, and Kris Foster in 5th.

To end with, Kris Foster, taking himself home an extra $506, dominated the head to head final.

Round 2

MX2 Main: All the riders were so full of energy that some couldn’t wait to get out of the gate, Kyle Beaton and Brock Hoyer jumped the start and were docked several positions for this infraction; This put Kris Foster on the podium in 3rd.

Open Main: This race brought out all the talent the facility was holding. The racers didn’t let off as they pushed their limits till the checkered flag. Brock Hoyer once again finished a well-earned 3rd place while his teammate Kris Foster finished 5th. Brock will also be looking to defend his last year’s title in the Open Class.

Good start to the season for the Monster Energy Leading Edge Kawasaki Team. The next Canadian Arenacross Championships will be held on Nov. 13th and 14th. See you there.

Monster Energy’s Dave Mirra kicked off the 2009 BMX competition season last at Chicago’s Dew Tour Nike 6.0 Open with one of the biggest wins of his career.

More golden than any athlete in X Games history, it could be said that core BMXers began to question Mirra’s competition worthiness. Sure, he was still true to the sport with MirraCo Bikes, but did his focusing on rally chop him down several rungs on the BMX hierarchy ladder?

We caught up with Mirra at re-lived his most excellent summer of BMX. From his back-on-the-map win at Chicago, to serious run at new school star Garrett Reynolds in Dew Tour BMX Park, Mirra checked in with Monster HQ the other day – a day after having some successful shoulder clean up surgery completed - and got us caught up on where things are at and where things are going with the most successful BMX competitor of all time.

Monster Energy: Hey, man, let’s start off with that last Dew Tour round in Orlando. WHAT were you thinking on that back flip entry off the vert wall into the tranny? That had to be one of the nuttiest tricks we’ve ever seen!

Dave Mirra: I actually did it in practice like eight times and it was dialed. I was excited about it, went to pull it in the finals and, I dunno, maybe was a little bit nervous or something. Didn’t pop the way I wanted it to, didn’t come around. My sight lines were off so my weight was ahead of my eyes I guess. Landed forward then and my foot came off and went straight to the ground.”

Monster Energy: The crash didn’t look all that bad on TV, probably because the trick was sofa king burly to begin with. But sometimes those types can be the worst. Did that force you to play your hand in terms of the shoulder surgery you had yesterday?

Dave Mirra: “No, I was already scheduled for surgery. If it was anytime to get hurt it would have been at Orlando.”

Monster Energy: Correct us if we’re wrong, but we got the feeling that some people had written you off this summer. And I think the talk started last year, with people forgetting you were injured. “Mirra’s into rally now” or “the dude’s getting old.” Did that help motivate you to pull off the unreal summer that you had?

Dave Mirra: “There was a few things that motivated me this year. I love riding, I love rally. I got a great family. I had to do some re-structures. Earlier this year I made up my mind to quit partying and start taking things more seriously. Ride for fun, which really helped me relax and have a better time with it and get better results. A lot of it was getting on a regiment and changing my lifestyle a little bit. Lived the other way for a long time and over the last ten years I’ve been telling myself I was going to retire within the next two years. So I figured out I was distracting myself with all the things outside BMX, and I could never break free from it, you know?”

Monster Energy: Right or wrong, your season-opening win in Chicago stunned the BMX industry. Or maybe a better word is surprised. You’ve been on top of the podium more than any other action sports athlete. Will that win go down as one of your most memorable?

Dave Mirra: “Yeah, you know what, with all the hard work I put in preparing for this year, what a better reward than to win at doing something you love, you know? So to win that was a huge, HUGE way for me getting started off on the right foot.”

Monster Energy: If we remember right you wadded up in practice pretty bad at Chicago as well.

Dave Mirra: “I got knocked out about an hour and a half before the event. If wouldn’t have rode the way I did and got 12th – that would have changed my whole year. I felt like ‘You know what, I did well – now it’s time for me to make the most of it.’ I was cool I was able to persevere, got back up and felt ‘This is more important to me – I want to ride.’ Told the head people at Dew Tour, ‘Hey, yeah, I probably shouldn’t ride. But if I can do better than two guys, that’s 10th place – which is two spots better than 12th. Live TV and I’ve got to be in the show.’ Went out and rode and won it – amazing.”

This British import has raised the game of what riding vert is all about, and that’s translated into three AST Dew Tour titles in a row, multiple X Games gold medals, and every other accolade BMX can throw his way. Just got back from Guadalajara, Mexico. I was down there for the Copa International BMX contest. It was a blast.

Andy Finch Update

We than drove from fresno to LA where Andy spent some time once again at the Fuel TV studio to do a segment for The Daily Habit. I will let you know when I find out when the TV show is due to air.

He is going to Fortuna, CA (wherever the heck that is?!) on Thursday for another premiere and than will soon be heading to Copper Mtn to get some halfpipe practice in.

The competition and Tofino’s spoils drew more than 120 top surfers from around the world for a chance to show their knowledge of these venerable waters.

Hometown surfer and recently signed Monster Energy athlete Peter Devries entered this contest as a way to better himself and see where he stands along side the world’s best. Peter has competed in the past but has recently started to concentrate on refining his technique and building a career for himself as a “free rider”. As the event proceeded Peter was feeling at ease, as he was able to evade most of the pressure that comes along with competing internationally. Peter advanced his way to the finals beating out some of the world’s best surfers as he knocked out the imposing challengers heat after heat.

With the beaches remarkably packed it seemed as though all of Tofino had called in sick to come out and cheer on their hometown hero. In the finals their victor was up against the great Australian surfer, Jay Thompson. Fast and rough, the waves were some of the most difficult to fare of the entire competition. Peter stuck to his game plan and rode the waves of his grom years as well as he could. As the final twenty-five minute heat came to an end and with Peter catching his final waves, he could not help but hear the crowd-filled beach cheering him on. The loud bustle of the fans was worthy as history was made twofold that day with Peter’s win; he accomplished both his first international victory and also became the first Canadian to win the O’Neil Coldwater Classic.

Among many ecstatic locals, Peter’s friend and Monster Energy teammate Noah Cohan ran into the frigid waters to hoist up the Canadian Champion onto their shoulders. With Canadian flags waving and the champagne freely flowing this was understandably the most triumphant day in Peter’s career thus far.

G'day mates across the globe, checking in with you from my sweet little pad at V-land that im renting for 2 months on the Rock.

I have been spending my days at the volcom house with my fellow stone brothers and surfing as much as i can hoping to end my season with a wabammm...

I dont have any events here since Haleiwa was canceled for the girls, so im stoked to be able to just focus on getting footage and shredding everyday.

So since we last spoke i had a 5star event in Brazil which i placed 5th in, solidifying my position which has been confirmed on the WCT for 2010. I qualified at 6th position on the WQS.

Looks like its going to be a very eventful 2010 for me, i will be doing as many contest's available to me and i am really glad i have that in main focus because im enjoying competing and traveling so much.

Monster Army: Ashton, you have been killing it this year racing. You are starting to set up yourself up for a good run at turning pro soon. Update everyone to some of your highlights over the last few years.

Ashton: The last couple of years I have been jumping around different series just trying them all out. Last year I won the National Enduro in Nevada. I have gotten top 5 in the Womens Pro/AA class in WORCS. Also took two 2^nd’s from the OMA Nationals.

MA: What is it like being a ripping teenage girl racer living in Texas?

Ashton: Its has its advantages and disadvantages. I live in West Texas so I always have to travel really far for the races. But I get to ride year round and a lot of great tracks are within 3 hrs of my house.

MA: Why is Texas heaven to any racer who wants to be pro one day?

Ashton: In Texas you can ride all year round and don’t have to worry about snow or anything like that. Texas also has a lot of really great tracks. We also have a lot of fast riders here to look up to.

MA: Describe your style of riding as you see it? Do you see yourself as more flowing or more aggressive? Give us some details.

Ashton: I would say my style was more flowing but I am really trying to be more aggressive especially when it comes to moto.

MA: Do you see being a girl as a help to you or does it make it harder to get sponsorship?

Ashton: I think in some cases being a girl has its advantages over a guy. But guys can make a living at this sport , I think eventually it will get that way for the women too. Especially with awesome women riders we have out there today.

MA: Tell us about your home town. What is it like?

Ashton: I live in a small town called Miles. It is a farming community and there is only like 800 people in the town. I am the only one that rides in my town so I have to ride by myself a lot. Rodeo is really big here so a lot of people in my town think that racing dirtbikes is easy and stupid.

MA: How did you become such a good rider? Run us thru when you first started to ride and who was your influence in getting started.

Ashton: My dad was my biggest influence. I started to ride when I was 12 years old. It just started out as a weekend thing, then my dad built me a track at my house. He started working with me. I ride at least 3 times during the week and every time I would go out there and ride he would be out there coaching me and helping me get better and still does. So I have to give a lot of credit to my dad for my helping me as much as he does.

MA: I know a lot of riders who live in Texas have enough land around their house they can ride daily. Can you ride your moto at your house?

Ashton: Yes! Since I live in a farm town there is nothing but fields around me. I have a small arenacross track, a corner track and also made some trails in my pasture. Its really nice just pull your bike out of your garage and go ride.

MA: Besides all the free product you get, what is the best part about being a good rider?

Ashton: I think the best part is all the people you meet throughout the years and places I travel to go race. Also representing a company like Monster is something to really be proud of.

MA: I know you have ridden many styles moto. What is your favorite to compete in?

Ashton: I really love riding moto and offroad. So the races that combine the two are my favorite.

MA: How do you find the needed time with school and homework to continue to progress your riding?

Ashton: I just learned how to balance it all. I also have a part time job at Gold’s Gym in San angelo, which is 20 min from my house. I work in the mornings, come home in the afternoons to ride and work out then do my homework at night. Except Tuesday and Thursdays cause that’s when I have all my classes set up on those days.

MA: What are you goals for the 2010 season?

Ashton: To finish top 5 at every round of WORCS next year in the Women’s Pro/AA class and hopefully to get into the WMA and run all the rounds.

(Nov. 1, 2009, For Immediate Release) The best off road truck racers on the planet converged at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway to lay it on the line and turn their 800 HP trucks loose in a no-holds-barred battle to secure their championships after a season-long fifteen rounds of the most intense short course racing on earth, with titles and first-time victories up for grabs right down to the last laps.

Ricky "Bad Boy" Johnson was up against his rival and nemesis, the slick veteran Rob MacCacharen in the ultra competitive Pro 2 wheel drive class, with young gun Todd LeDuc also with a shot at the championship, along with two-wheel legend Jeremy McGrath thirsting for his first win. To have a shot at the trophy, motocross icon Johnson would have to lead flag-to-flag, and he hit the track with only "win or wreck" on his mind.

In the Pro Lights, the most dominating driver in class history, Jeff Kincaid, in his division swan song as he moves up to Pro 2 in 2010, only needed to be strong and solid. But he was up against a challenging track, and the likes of upstart Monster Energy's Casey Currie, as well as the Metal Mulisha's Brian Deegan, both hungry and willing to do whatever it took to stand on top of the podium.

The heavyweight division is the dirt-grinding Pro 4 Wheel Drive, and Monster Energy's Rick Huseman cruised into Vegas in command - but be not misled into thinking this meant anything except what many are calling the most intense, competitive and unpredictable race in the sport's history - including exploding cars, drivers racing blind, trucks crawling on trucks, all leading to season-ending, heart-stoppping one-lap shootout which no one could have predicted. It was a truly historic way to finish the extraordinary innagural season of the Traxxas TORC off road series. This is one race you simply do not want to miss.

Supporing TORC is former off road racer, three time NASCAR Champion, and current Chase for the Spring Cup leader, Jimmie Johnson, joining the ABC telecast as special technical reporter.

That's right everyone, winter has arrived! It snowed for the first time at my house in Northern Minnesota on Friday night. That afternoon, I was riding moto and within a two hour span it went from sunny and warm to a snow storm! We got somewhere between two and three inches. It was snowing and blowing like crazy all night. Saturday morning, I drove to the cities (Minneapolis/St. Paul) and the roads were pure ice. Winter came fast this year. Hopefully everyone is getting excited to ride and are in their local dealerships checking out the new sleds and gear!

On Sunday morning, I snuck in a mountain bike ride with my friend John. I rode a new trail in Eagan called Lebanon Hills and had a really good time. Last night, Minneapolis got its first snow. Here's a picture of me measuring it this morning. Exciting stuff!

Hey all, its PT checking in. Just on my way to MN to start getting all dialed in for the season. Have a ton of work today before snow flies. Get sleds ready, broke in and all graphiced up for the sponsors. Actually moving to MN for a few months this year! Should be amazing.

Justin Hoyer and myself are going to be training this season together and Im pretty excited about working with him. Super taleted and I feel I can learn a lot from him. Foam pit and Hoyers compound is all ready for us to start getting crazy and training for X and some other cool events coming up.

Getting stoked for another Monster Energy/ Slednecks Invasion tour. Looks like we are getting close to gettig the details all ironed out. Going to be bigger and better!

This season promises to be the biggest yet! Have some really cool events coming up and some even cooler event ideas, so stay tuned and keep ripping!
