Ho hum

I couldn't wait till July 18th. Why oh why. The local race i was talking about was supposed to be my biggest. Now, it's staged on July 18th. I have to miss my LTM race just to race the local. Oh well, Ill see if i can hit the one on July 19th. Hopefully my parents will be in a good mood.

Hey all!

Gosh it's been a while! It's been hectic for my family lately, with a recent loss in our family. And to make matters worse, her daughter won't stop causing controversy! But now it's all gone, and I can finally focus on racing. My first race was supposed to be this sunday, but my mom signed me up for brunch with her friends and their kids. Weee fun. But LTM does not have another race until July 18, so I'll get plenty of practice. And our annual county fair is coming soon, and we have a "Motocross Extravaganza"(thats what it says in the paper). I can't wait! My whole school should be there and its finally time to shake off all the hate from the non believers. Oh wait, you guys don't know. There is one riding group at our school. There has lately been some problems and now it is a huge civil war. The "popular side", has a whole bunch on non riders on their side. The riders aren't that great or experienced, so the race should be cake. Unless of course Zach Loehr shows up. He races 85 SR now, and he's been to Loretta's, and placed. He got 9th I think. I'm hoping this year I can step it up and get faster, but time will tell. I'll come back with more updates, so stay tuned. Stay safe, and have fun all!

Practice

On Easter, I'm going to my cousin's house to ride and race him on his track. Right now, it has just two doubles and 1 whoop section, but he's working on it and he's going to make it awesome!

Dedication

"While you text, I work on my bike. While you go to the movies, I ride. While you stay up till 12 talking to your girlfriend, I am staying up till 1 getting ready to race. I am ready, I am superior."

An Interview with Jake Barton

So, how did you race last year?

Not so well. I got fifth in the first race, and then during my training during the next week, my bike blew up! The shop took all season to get my bike parts, and it took forever to get my engine together. So I barely got to ride, but never got to race.

What are your goals this year?

Just to finish top 3 consistently. I know I can do it, I got the skill, the backing, I just have to get the start. Grab the holeshot, and play it out front.

Do you think you are faster this year than last year?

Oh, definitely. I'm hitting the corners as fast as ever, airing doubles, and just riding my best pace. I'm going to give it 110% this year. No messing around, this is my year.

Who do you consider your biggest competition?

Everyone out there. Stuff happens, I could wreck before the finish line and finish 17th, or I could DNF, either way, those people who beat me, are my biggest competitors. Those who don't, are my biggest competition because they are going to come back with vengeance. So it's everyone, and myself.

Who would you like to thank coming into this year?

I'd like to thank HRP Sports and Skorbordz for supporting me for this season right in front of us, my parents who are my #1 fans and supporters. I'd also like to thank Jesus Christ for blessing me with life and a great family. And finally, Loop'd for having a great site to help people!

Questions with Jake

What inspires you to compete?

The posers around me who make me angry that they think they can just wear the stuff and be awesome. But it's the understanding of the feeling of flying solo that will let you walk the walk.

Why do you like this sport?

This is a sport where I'm okay at. I'm not good at basketball or football, I don't like running, (except in training, my schedule makes it fun)! So this is where I belong. It's fun too, and keeps me out of the bad crowds.

Music?

Rammstein, AC/DC, Saliva, Led Zeppelin.

Describe your style...

I guess I'm like water. Smooth, yet cool.

Do you train? What does your schedule look like?

Oh yeah. You can't go anywhere without training. It just won't happen. I get up, run a mile, jump on a bike, ride 2 miles, ride my dirt bike if possible, then do some weight lifting. On Monday, Wednesday, and Friday I do sprints.

Yeah Man! The RM85's are bad to the bone, just ask Billy. I've had mine for two years now and never had a problem with it except a broken frame. Seems to be a common problem not just with RM's, but all bikes. I have friends that have broken KX's & YZ's, too. I guess we just ride them hard. Anyway, welcome aboard and here's 5 *'s for you. Have a great weekend!
