Q&A - Competition

How did you get started?

I got started racing motocross when a friend of mine told me she was competing and said that I should as well. That was my first race and definitely was wondering what the heck I was doing not knowing anything!!! I had such a blast and became addicted to the sport! Ever since then I wanted to push myself even harder.

List your competitive highlights:

I have always been competitive in any sport! I like to see improved results and it is totally cool when you are winning races...haha!

What are you planning for next season?

The 2010 season I am training harder and practicing this entire year to be ready for next season. I have to be in tip top shape! The competition will definitely be there!

What has been your biggest accomplishment?

I would have to say how much I have improved since the first race I competed in. It is cool to see what your abilities are! I have a lot to improve on, but so far so good.

The '09 race season I was out!  I had to fix my bike as well as my back up bike.  Not a good run back to back.  Now the bikes are ready to go and I will be ready for the 2010 race series.  I am practicing and training hard this season to make a come back for next year.  =)

My nick name, Dirty Hot Sauce aka DHS, was given to me by a friend and riding buddy by the name of Rotten.   In a way some people think my nickname is kinda kinky...lol!  That isn't at all what it was intended for.  So here goes the story behind the nick name:

The first set of gear I received was a pair of pants.  Given to me from one of my dearest friends.  The pants were worn originally by Ivan Tadesco, aka Hot Sauce.  These pants are the coolest green retro looking gear ever...lol!  That is where the Hot Sauce came into play.  I actually have the magazine with Ivan Tadesco wearing these.  It was when he was sportin Kawasaki Team Green.  Surprisingly they fit me...I am not sure if that makes me big or him just small???

Now the rest of the name:

Dirty, pretty much just explains that word...lol!  I was racing a hair scramble with Rotten.  Many riders and dust flying everywhere.  The race was sand galore.  Last 30 mile lap, remind me not to do these scrambles...wasn't much fun really.  The last lap FINALLY, I can sense the check point is only a couple miles across the sand.  I see a competitor, I won't mention any names, but I will call her Pumpkin.  I see her up ahead, I am pinned and not gaining on Pumpkin at all.  Next thing I know, Pumpkin is slowing down.  I was catching up quick...started to get the giggles bad, then the horrible laughing that I wasn't able to maintain.  I was riding neck to neck with Pumpkin at this point, I look over and the laughing wouldn't stop.  I look forward & OMG, there is the check point.  I hit the brakes, slide through the check point to the finish line.  LOL LOL LOL!  I get up laughing my @$$ off and here comes Rotten (whom was out the first lap due to a crash) laughing to.  I get up and dust off, the official couldn't stop laughing either.  So long story short, I went up to pumpkin and wanted to congratulate her on the win...but before I can get one word out, she said, "You're a dirty rider Nicole, just dirty".  Come to find out, I took the trophy from her and because I crossed the finish line first (I didn't stop at the check point), the official said I won.  Pumpkin was mad and disgusted!  Ever since then, I got the name Dirty Hot Sauce.  There is more to the story of what happened next;  Pumpkin was so irrate she argued about it.  Next thing I know I am published in the paper for being a dirty rider and mentioned that young people don't know how to ride with ethics.  And it kept going...but this is what was the funniest.  In that ad, Pumpkin mentioned that I wanted the trophy so bad, she let me just have it to make me happy!  LOL!

Where is my website?...www.dirtyrider.com...lol!

That is how my nickname originated and it stuck with me.  =)
