Great News! Monster Energy’s Troy Adams Returns To Action And Podiums @ Glen Helen’s Prequel Former AMA MX Nationals podium finisher places 2nd at action-packed Prequel – good to go for this weekend’s Nationals opener at Hangtown CARLSBAD, Calif., (May 15, 2006) – Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Troy Adams returned to competition for the first time this year following a late ’05 season leg injury that forced him to the sidelines for the entire supercross season. Adams, an Outdoor Nationals podium finisher in the past, proved he’s going to be a force in the AMA Lites class during this summer’s AMA Toyota Motocross Championship series as he raced to an impressive 2nd place overall finish at the talent-laden Prequel on Saturday. “It was great to get back in the gate,” said Adams. “I was a little bit anxious in the first moto and maybe tried a bit too hard to get the lead. But it just felt so good to be back out racing after missing out on the entire supercross season. My Pro Circuit/Kawasaki KX250F is the fastest bike I’ve ever ridden. I can’t wait to get after it at Hangtown.” Adams, Grant Langston, Ryan Villopoto and Chris Gosselaar and Troy return to action in this week at the opener of the 2006 Toyota AMA Motocross Championship at northern California’s legendary Hangtown Classic (May 21st). Monster Energy’s Ricky Carmichael Crowned King Of Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series
With the points tied and the title on the line, the Greatest of All Time comes through big and beats rival Chad Reed hands down for the title
CARLSBAD, Calif., (May 8, 2006) – Monster Energy’s Ricky Carmichael (Suzuki) saved one of his most consistent performances of the 2006 Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series season for Vegas, taming a high speed and slick Sam Boyd Stadium track to capture the overall AMA Supercross title with a 2nd place finish in the season’s final race.
Tied at 314-314 with rival Chad Reed heading into the last round, Carmichael absolutely had to ride a hyper fast, mistake-free race in the finals – and did just that to take the overall series win.
“Wooo! I can’t believe it!,” exclaimed Carmichael as he wiped the Vegas dirt away from his face with a Monster Energy towel – live all around the world on the Speed Channel. “This was a total team effort tonight. We went through a lot of adversity this year and tonight we were able to overcome it. From my mechanic, Mike Gosselaar, to my parents and everybody else associated with the team – we did it!”
One couldn’t imagine the pressure Carmichael was under during the week leading up to the race. The now five-time Supercross champion had all but wrapped up the title in previous years leading up to Vegas, so for the points chase come down to the first-ever tie going into the last race in the sport’s 34-year history made this one extra special.
“This week I spent some time with my mom (Jeannie) and I more or less just talked myself into winning this race mentally,” said Carmichael. “Supercross has always been really, really hard for me – so I take a lot of pride in this championship.”
For the record, Carmichael now has 14 national championships.
Carmichael’s Monster Energy-backed teammate Ivan Tedesco also had an excellent season. The Albuquerque, New Mexico native was back at home in the desert conditions and overcame a spectacular heat race crash to finish a solid 7th place overall in the main. Tedesco, consistent all season long, wound up finishing 4th overall in the standings.
Both RC and Ivan have the next couple weeks off before returning to action May 21st for the opening round of the 2006 Toyota AMA Motocross Championship series at Hangtown (Sacramento). Carmichael’s especially excited to square off against his home state (Florida) rival, James Stewart.
“James will be on a 450, so I’m pumped,” said Carmichael. “It’s going to be an exciting summer of racing for sure.”

Monster Energy’s Ryan Villopoto Holeshots the Vegas Lites Shoot Out, Crashes, Races Back To 6th
AMA Supercross rookie backs 3rd place overall finish in the Western Lites division with impressive come-from-behind charge in finals
CARLSBAD, Calif., (May 8, 2006) – Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/ Kawasaki’s Ryan Villopoto pulled a MONSTER holeshot in the Dave Coombs Sr. Lites Class Shoot Out at Vegas, only to get tangled with rival Mike Alessi and go down – dashing his hopes of being crowned the East/West Lites champion at Las Vegas’ Sam Boyd Stadium on Sunday.
Villopoto got the big day started by blasting the afternoon’s second- fasted practice lap time, about a 10th of a second behind Davi Millsaps. The Washington native and shoe-in for AMA Rookie of the Year then opened the evening program by winning the West heat by nearly three seconds over Honda factory-backed Billy Laninovich.
“Yeah, I’m bummed I went down, but overall I look at the Supercross season and a pretty good showing,” said Villopoto, who raced back to sixth place from dead last against the world’s top Lites class racers. “I made three podiums and got my first career Supercross win at Dallas. So overall it was a good first year.”
Villopoto would wind up third overall in the Western Region Lites class. Teammate Grant Langston, who won the Western Region Lites class, was injured in practice and didn’t make the starting gate for the Vegas Lites Shoot Out. He is expected to make the opener of the Outdoor Nationals in two weeks.
The third racer representing Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki at Vegas was Chris Gosselaar. An overall podium finisher on the Eastern Region Lites circuit, Gosselaar was involved in a first-lap accident and was unable to finish the race, though he left the track under his own power.
Langston, Villopoto, Gosselaar and Troy Adams return to action in two weeks at the opener of the 2006 Toyota AMA Motocross Championship at northern California’s legendary Hangtown Classic (May 21st).
