Monster Energy's Ivan Tedesco 5th @ Indy SX- Should Move Into Top Five Overall This Weekend In Dallas
Tedesco has to take LCQ route - which he wins - to make the Indy main
CARLSBAD, Calif., (March 26th, 2007) - Monster Energy-backed Ivan
Tedesco (Makita/Suzuki) continued his assault on the top five overall
AMA Supercross class standings, this past weekend battling to a 5th
place overall finish in the main event and moving to within eight
points of the top five overall in the standings.
Barring disaster, Tedesco should make up those points this weekend in
Dallas as the guy standing in front of him in 5th place overall in
the points is his Monster Energy teammate, Ricky Carmichael, who's
officially retired from supercross racing this year.
At Indy Tedesco needed the Last Chance Qualifier to make the main.
The New Mexico native made short work of the competition in the LCQ,
winning that by nearly five seconds over childhood friend Kevin Johnson.
In the main event Tedesco got held up a bit early in the race and
came around in 7th place after the first lap. He then started picking
off riders, including former supercross winner David Vuillemin and
Honda factory rider Andrew Short to move into 5th, then held off
another Honda factory rider, Davi Millsaps, to make the top five
overall.
Next up for Tedesco is this weekend's running of the Dallas
Supercross at Texas Stadium, Round 13 of the 2007 Amp'd Mobile AMA
Supercross Series.

Monster Energy's John Hopkins Fast Early, But Crashes Out Of Spanish
Grand Prix
Hopper loses front end in wind gust, unhurt in accident
CARLSBAD, Calif., (March 26, 2007) - Monster Energy-backed MotoGP
racer John Hopkins (Rizla Suzuki) crashed out of the Spanish GP
(Jerez) after putting up one of the day's fastest times early in the
race. Hopkins was forced to settle for 19th overall.
"I am disappointed to say the least," said Hopkins. "The worst
thing is that we have lost valuable championship points."
Unharmed in the accident that has his front end wash out after being
sent sideways by a big gust of wind, Hopkins said everything was
going great until his accident late in the contest. "My race pace
and the tires felt good and I was able to put in a few passes in the
beginning," he said. "I was in a group that was making a bit of a
gap, but then I got held up by Nicky (Hayden, the defending MotoGP
champ). I wanted to get past him, but I was having a hard time doing
it."
Putting a chase on the podium racers, Hopkins would meet his demise
in Jerez with ten laps remaining in the race. "When I got past him
(Hayden) and started to chase down the front three, the wind picked
up and I got blown sideways by a big gust and the pace I was going,
and the lean angle I had, I just lost the front."
Hopkins tried to remain positive: "We're looking to come back even
stronger in Turkey."
Next up for the Monster Energy-backed Hopkins and the Rizla Suzuki
team is the April 4th Grand Prix of Turkey.

Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki's Ben Townley 2nd @ Indy SX - Makes Up Big Points On O/A Lead
Teammate Lange survives wild wreck early to finish hard-fought 9th
CARLSBAD, Calif., (March 26, 2007) - Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/ Kawasaki's Ben Townley made up some ground in the overall Eastern Lites class points chase of the 2007 Amp'd Mobile AMA Supercross Series, finishing 2nd this past weekend at Indianapolis' RCA Dome.
With the effort Townley cut four-point chunk out of series points leader Ryan Morais' overall lead, which now stands at only ten points
(96-86) with two races remaining (Dallas and Detroit) on the ESX schedule.
"I'm a little disappointed," said Townley. "I had a crash in my heat race and my bike got bent up a bit, so thanks to my mechanic for getting that fixed. Overall I'd have liked to won an feel Pro Circuit and Kawasaki gave me the bike to do so, but in the end I'd have to settle for 2nd - even though we made some points up on 1st place."
Townley's teammate, Darcy Lange, was in the best position to make up some points. Trailing ESX leader Morais by only six points heading into Indy, a win for Lange would have put him into the overall points lead. But a first-turn crash would dash the Canadian's hopes and he'd wind up with a hard-fought 9th overall.
"I had a really good start and somebody went down in front of me and I hit him," said Lange. "Bent my clutch to the point where I couldn't even use it for the rest of the race - 9th was the best we could do.
But I tried hard and know that we'll be back to race this weekend in Dallas."
Lange is only two points behind Townley, 86-84.
Next up for the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki team is Round 13 of the 2007 Amp'd Mobile AMA Supercross Series at Dallas' Texas Stadium (March 31).

Monster Energy's Ricky Carmichael Closes SX Chapter Of His Storied
MX Career With Epic Orlando Race
Like when Monster Energy's Jeremy McGrath handed the SX champion
torch over to him in 2001, RC does the same for Monster/Kawasaki's
James Stewart in 2007
CARLSBAD, Calif., (March 19, 2007) - Monster Energy-backed Ricky
Carmichael (Makita/Suzuki), by far the winningest motocross racer of
all time and defending Amp'd Mobile AMA Supercross Series champion,
said good-bye to his legions of supercross fans with one last epic
race this past weekend at Orlando's Citrus Bowl.
Carmichael, who after an undisclosed number of AMA Outdoor National
MX events this summer, will trade in his dirt bikes for late model
NASCAR development series cars with the ultimate goal being a Nextel
Cup ride.
But on Saturday in a highly emotional AMA Supercross class main
event, Carmichael gave it absolutely everything he had on last time
- while still staying safe during his abbreviated supercross
season - and gave the heir apparent to his throne, Monster Energy/
Kawasaki's James Stewart everything he could handle in what many
agreed was the best supercross race of the year.
"I got a great start, but with the No. 7 (Stewart) right behind me I
knew it was going to be a fun night," said Carmichael. "Good,
clean racing all the way to the finish and it was a great way to end
my career, even though I didn't win."
Added fellow Floridian Stewart: "My last race ever against the guy
was super fun."
Carmichael and longtime rival Chad Reed went at it early in Orlando,
putting on an excellent race in heat No. 1, to which Carmichael
prevailed. In the main event Reed pulled the Progressive Direct
Holeshot, but Carmichael got out well enough himself (3rd) and made
short work of Reed, passing him with a banzai move into a corner bowl
turn early on in the race.
With the fastest supercross racer on the planet (Stewart) hot on his
tail, Carmichael would dig down and fight with all he could to
preserve the lead. A maniacal approach to the whoops would allow
Stewart to close the gap by lap eight, but RC would hold onto the
lead for several more laps before Stewart got by him with a clean and
cautious pass in a flat track section of the Dirt Wurx-built course.
Stewart would instantly open up a five-bike-lengths lead, only to
have Carmichael bring the Orlando crowd to its feet during the last
five laps of the race as he closed in on Stewart's rear fender.
"I had a shot and missed it," Carmichael said to former champion
and friend Jeff Stanton, who worked with Carmichael during his Honda
years.
On the podium Carmichael thanked the fans and his sponsors, saying
"Now it's on to something new, but my heart will always be with
this sport."
Carmichael's Monster Energy-backed Makita/Suzuki teammate, Ivan
Tedesco, would also have one of his better races of the year,
finishing 4th overall in the main event and moving past Michael Byrne
into 6th place in the overall standings.
Next up for Tedesco is this weekend's running of the Indianapolis
Supercross at the RCA Dome, Round 12 of the 2007 Amp'd Mobile AMA
Supercross Series.

Monster Energy’s Tucker Hibbert Makes Top Ten Overall In ESX Lites
Class @ Orlando’s Citrus Bowl
From Winter X Games snocross gold to top ten in world’s premier
supercross series, Monster/Hibbert’s street cred continues to grow
in extreme powersports industry
CARLSBAD, Calif., (March 19, 2007) – Monster Energy-backed Tucker
Hibbert (Motor City Powersports/Yamaha) won the Eastern Supercross
Lites class’ Last Chance Qualifier at Orlando’s Citrus Bowl on
Saturday night and parlayed that effort into a solid 10th place
finish in the Lites class main event.
Hibbert’s effort vaulted him into the top 15 overall. And with three
rounds remaining he’s only ten points out of the top ten overall.
“That’s definitely the best race I’ve had this season,” said
Hibbert. “Winning the LCQ over (Darcy) Lange was huge for our
program. This weekend we head to Indianapolis and I’ve done well
there in the past so I hope to make up some more points, get a little
bit closer to the top ten in the standings each week.”
Hibbert’s road to the Orlando main event was again highlighted by
his win in the LCQ. In winning that event he topped Boo Koo
Arenacross champion and current ESX title contender (2nd in points)
Lange (Monster Energy/PC/Kawi). In the main event Hibbert, who came
out of the first lap in 18th overall, put down the ninth fastest time
- just a click over a second off the lead time by Lange’s Monster
Energy’s teammate, Ben Townley.
Next up for Hibbert is this Saturday’s (March 24h) running of the
Indianapolis Supercross at the RCA Dome. Last year Hibbert finished
8th at the RCA Dome.
Hibbert is riding Artic Cat sleds and Yamaha dirt bikes this winter.

Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Darcy Lange Pulls To Within Six
Points Of O/A ESX Lites Lead With 3rd @ Orlando
Monster Energy teammate Ben Townley overcomes lap ten crash to finish
7th
CARLSBAD, Calif., (March 19, 2007) – Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/
Kawasaki’s Darcy Lange took advantage of a late race miscue by Mike
Alessi to grab the third and final Eastern Supercross Lites class
podium spot at Orlando’s Citrus Bowl, pulling to within six points of
overall Lites points leader Ryan Morais in the ESX points chase.
Poised to do equally as well, if not better at Orlando, was Lange’s
Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki teammate Ben Townley. But a lap
ten crash would seal Townley’s fate at Orlando, dropping him back –
but definitely not out – of the overall ESX Lites class points chase
with a 7th overall. Noteworthy: Townley had the fastest lap time of
anybody in the Orlando ESX main event with a 51.673.
Said Lange of his effort: “Overall it was a tough race, tough to get
red-flagged on my best start of the year. But I was riding pretty
well, making up spots when Alessi went down on the last corner and I
just got in there. I didn’t start out to well but I kept racing
through the end and it paid off.”
With the effort, including a 2nd place finish in the LCQ, Lange
pulled to within six points of ESX points leader Morais, 78-72, with
three rounds remaining on the ESX series schedule. Townley’s in 3rd
place overall, still well within striking distance of the lead with
64 points.
Next up for the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki team is Round 12
of the 2007 Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series at Indianapolis’ RCA
Dome (March 24).

Monster Energy’s Ricky Carmichael 2nd @ Daytona, Last Chance To See Him Race SX Is This Weekend!
Storied supercross career of greatest motocross racer of all time coming to an end this weekend at Orlando’s Citrus Bowl
CARLSBAD, Calif., (March 12, 2007) – Monster Energy-backed Ricky Carmichael, the ‘winningest’ motocross racer of all time and defending Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series champion, put on a great show for his home state fans in Florida this past Friday, posting a well-deserved 2nd overall in the AMA Supercross class at Daytona International Speedway.
Carmichael, who’s won the Daytona round a record five times and was the defending champ at the race, didn’t quite get the start he wanted (in the main and his heat race) and found himself in 5th place after the main event’s first lap.
RC would mount a spirited charge despite the difficult track layout on the infield of the hallowed NASCAR facility, getting past defending Western Lites class champion Grant Langston, veteran Kyle Lewis and longtime rival Kevin Windham to make it up to 2nd place by lap four. Unfortunately for Carmichael fellow Monster Energy-backed racer James Stewart had got out to the lead early and put some distance between himself and part-time supercross racer Carmichael.
“It’s been an amazing ride,” said Carmichael from the podium.
“To win here five times in front of you guys has just been amazing.
You know, every dog has its day and my day is getting thin, but I think I’m pretty good making the riders work.”
Those riders included rival Chad Reed, the 2004 supercross champion, who wasn’t able to catch Carmichael on the highly technical Daytona track.
Carmichael’s Monster Energy-backed Makita/Suzuki teammate Ivan Tedesco raced to a 6th place finish at Daytona following a 12th place start. Tedesco’s in 7th place overall, 20 points out of the top five – and will gain on that spot quickly as Carmichael (5th
overall) finishes up the supercross season this weekend in Orlando.
Next up for RC and Ivan is this weekend’s running of the Orlando Supercross at the Citrus Bow, Round 11 of the 2007 Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series.

Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Townley Back On Top Of AMA SX Lites Field With Impressive Daytona Win
Teammate Lange 6th o/a at Daytona, both are in series’ top three o/a
CARLSBAD, Calif., (March 12, 2007) – Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/ Kawasaki’s Ben Townley got right back into the overall AMA Supercross Lites class Eastern Region title hunt with an impressive win this past Friday at Daytona International Speedway.
The highly-touted Kiwi and former GP Lites MX2 class champ overcame Andrew McFarlane on lap two of the 15-lap contest and led the race through the checkers, recording the fastest overall time in the main by 7/10ths of a second over factory Honda rider Thomas Hahn.
With the effort Townley thrust himself right back into title contention, having previously come away from the Eastern Region Lites opener in Atlanta with zero points. As it stands Townley is in 3rd place overall with 50 points (two wins), two points behind teammate Darcy Lange and six points out of first place overall (Ryan Morais).
“Everything came together very well for us at Daytona,” said Townley.
“I’d like to credit the entire Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki team with the win. The course was rough and got more difficult as the evening progressed and my KX250F did an excellent job in helping me get out front and stay there through the end.”
Sixth place overall went to Lange, who qualified 7th out of the first heat race to make the main. Lange started in 8th place and moved up to as high as 5th before coming in at 6th overall.

Monster Energy’s Roger Lee Hayden & Jamie Hacking Go 1-2 @ Daytona AMA Supersport Class Opener
Kawasaki racers dominant in AMA Superbike Championship’s first ’07 event; Monster’s Danny Eslick 5th overall in AMA Superstock event
CARLSBAD, Calif., (March 12, 2007) – Kawasaki road racers Roger Lee Hayden and Jamie Hacking opened up a can of Monster on the competition at the opening round of the 2007 AMA Superbike Championship, going 1-2, respectively, in the Pro Honda Oils Supersport Class, presented by Shoei, at Daytona International Speedway this past weekend.
Dueling it out on factory-backed 600cc Kawasaki ZX-6Rs, Hacking and Hayden were 1-2 on the starting line after qualifying, 8/10ths of a second faster than the next fastest racer.
In the main Hacking got off the start well on the pole position and led the race after the first lap. He continued to fly, although teammate Hayden was right on him – possibly foreshadowing what’s going to be an unreal battle between the two teammates all season long.
On lap four Hayden set up and passed the No. 1 bike of Hacking and led the remaining 19 laps to take the victory. “Monster Energy’s gotta be pumped seeing us go 1-2 to start the series,” said Hayden. “Let’s hope there’s a lot more of that through out the season.”
Also running well for Monster Energy was longtime sponsored rider Danny Eslick. Racing the Matsushima Suzuki GSX-R1000 in the AMA Superstock Class, Eslick overcame a moderately successful start to finish 5th overall – passing Chris Ulrich late in the race to make the top five.
Next up for the Monster Energy-backed AMA Superbike Series racers will be round two and three of the series, April 20-22, at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Ala. For more information check out www.amasuperbike.com.

Good Showing For Monster Energy FAR Pro Circuit/Kawaski Off-Road Team @ GNCC's "General"
Fred Andrews Racing team places well at Georgia round
CARLSBAD, Calif., (March 12, 2007) - The Monster Energy FAR (Fred Andrews Racing) Pro Circuit Kawasaki Off-Road Team came away from the Washington, Ga., round (aka "The General") of Can-Am Grand National Cross Country Racing Series with three of its four team members placing in the top ten of the XC1 and XC2 classes this past weekend.
Beginning with the premier XC1 class, Monster Energy-backed Jesse Robinson scored another top ten finish overall, coming in 8th against some of the world's top off-road cross country racers. Racing a Kawasaki KX250 two-stroke, Robinson pulled a mid-pack start, overcame a crash and had to play catch up the rest of the race to make the top ten.
"I had higher intentions of a stronger finish, but I got some arm pump after the crash and had to get my bars and levers adjusted - which cost me some time," said Robinson. "Outside that it was a pretty good day of racing."
In the XC2 class Monster Energy had two riders in the top ten - three in the top 11 overall. Scott Watkins overcame a horrible start to battle all the way back through the pack to lead the Monster Energy racers with a 5th place overall finish. Right behind Watkins was his teammate PA Allen, finishing 6th overall after crashing head first into a tree and racing the rest of the day with a heck of a headache.
"Scotty started at the very end of his class, but was able to battle through the pace to a solid 5th place finish," said Andrews. "The Georgia track was difficult to pass on and it took all Scotty could do to get through those guys." Noteworthy: Watkins was still nursing an injury suffered the at the previous GNCC round in Florida.
Rounding out the top 11 on his KX250F was Cole Calkins. With a great start and coming by the pits after the first lap in 4th place overall, Calkins was poised to make a run at the podium. However, with badly blistered and bleeding hands (the result of the first round in Florida), Calkins had to back it off a few clicks but was able to preserve an 11th place finish.
Also noteworthy: Monster Energy/Kawasaki Team Green amateur racer Andrew Matusek captured the overall win in the Four-Stroke A Lites class at The General.
Next up for the Monster Energy FAR Pro Circuit Kawasaki Off-Road the FMF Steel Creek race in Morganton, N.C. (March 24-25).

Monster Energy's Hopkins Finishes Just Off MotoGP Opener Podium In Qatar
Hopper guts one out despite reverberating injury suffered last month
CARLSBAD, Calif., (March 13, 2007) - Monster Energy-backed MotoGP racer John Hopkins (Rizla Suzuki) looks to have overcome the effects of a gnarly practice crash last month, putting himself within a half second of the overall podium at the opening round of the MotoGP World Championship tour in Qatar this past weekend.
Hopkins, piloting the No. 21 800cc Suzuki GVSR, was realistically looking for a top ten finish given his physical state at the opener.
However, once the flag dropped Hopkins rocket out into a top six position, then rolled on the power mid-race and moved all the way up to the No. 3 spot - setting one of the day's fastest lap times in the process.
Battling Dani Pedrosa for pretty much the entire race, Hopkins never seceded the podium position - riding Pedrosa hard through the final lap for 4th overall.
"I am really happy with the way the race went after coming to this event in quite a bit of pain," said Hopkins. "I got off to a good start but lost a couple places in the first few laps. I soon got them back and from there on I just tried to keep myself up towards the front."
Next up for Hopkins and the Rizla Suzuki MotoGP team is the second round of the MotoGP World Championship at Jerez (Spain), March 25th.

Monster Energy’s Ricky Carmichael Win St. Louis Supercross Round – His 2nd Win Of The Season
Carmichael returns to a favorite track, receives HUGE ovation from St. Louis fans; Monster teammate Tedesco suffers spectacular crash
CARLSBAD, Calif., (March 5, 2007) – Monster Energy-backed Ricky Carmichael (Makita/Suzuki) did it again! The semi-retired rider took advantage of a accident between fellow front runners James Stewart (Monster Energy/Kawasaki) and Chad Reed and overtook the pack after a poor start to win the St. Louis round of the 2007 Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series.
“Those two guys (Stewart and Reed) went down, so I dunno,” said Carmichael. “I was riding good, but it definitely helped. I’m so pumped to get this win – you have no idea.”
Carmichael, who pulled the holeshot in an epic sideways flat track move in his heat race (No. 1), absolutely dominated the rest of the field in the wire-to-wire win to make the main event. His lap times were consistent in his heat and practice with that of series point leader Stewart, foreshadowing was what to be another great match up between the champion Carmichael and the heir-apparent to his throne – Monster Energy’s Stewart.
In the main Carmichael actually got a poor start and was quickly working to make his way up front when the two leaders – Reed and Stewart – went down in a corner. Carmichael blitzed by and made short work of the rest of the guys ahead of him – including former AMA Supercross Lites champions Davi Milsaps (’06) and Nathan Ramsey
(’99) - digging hard for open track in an effort to extend his lead.
Carmichael would then settle in and ride his typical flawless race, waving to the fans in the air over the last several jumps and winning by a comfortable margin despite a feverous charge from Stewart.
“My streak’s coming to an end and I’d like to get one more win out of my final two races,” said Carmichael on the podium regarding the two home state Florida rounds (Daytona and Orlando) that he’ll contest.
For Tedesco the night started out awesome with a heat race (No. 2) that had him challenging Stewart early in the race and finishing 2nd overall to transfer with confidence in the main. But a spectacular early race crash would take him – along with fellow Monster Energy racer Tim Ferry – out of contention for a top spot. Tedesco would wind up 19th overall.
Next up for RC and Ivan is this weekend’s running of the Daytona Supercross By Honda at the legendary Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Fla., Round Ten of the 2007 Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series.

Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Ben Townley Puts One In The Win Column With Gem @ St. Louis
Townley ‘masterful’ in his performance in front of the packed Edward Jones Dome; Monster teammate Darcy Lange OK after breathtaking crash
CARLSBAD, Calif., (March 5, 2007) – Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/ Kawasaki’s Ben Townley won his first AMA Supercross Lites class race of the 2007 Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series season, this past Saturday besting the Eastern Lites region field for top honors at St.
Louis’ Edward Jones Dome.
Townley, who hails from Taupo, New Zealand, got things going early with a solid 2nd place finish in the first heat race to make the main. Equally as impressive in the early goings of the day was his Monster Energy-backed teammate, Darcy Lange, who won the second heat race to make the main. Both Lange and Townley went 1-2 in AMA timed practice times, respectively.
In the main the two Pro Circuit-tuned Kawasaki KXF250s got out quickly with Townley pulling the $1,000 Progressive Direct holeshot and Lange not far behind. The two would then take over the race, going 1-2 for much of the contest.
With one lap to go Lange, who had dropped a couple spots, would mount a furious charge at the lead – and actually got it for a moment – before a spectacular crash would put him out of contention for the win, finishing 6th overall. Lange would be please to know, though, that his Superman-like dive into the Edward Jones Dome soil won him 1st place overall on a highly-viewed SPEED channel motorsports highlights wrap up program, beating out the controversial NASCAR pass Juan Pablo Montoya made on his teammate Scott Pruett.
Weathering the Lange storm was Townley, who recorded his first supercross win of his career.
“You can’t believe how happy I am to win,” said Townley. “This has been a dream of mine my entire life. Thanks to Monster Energy, Pro Circuit and Kawasaki – and the rest of my sponsors – for helping me make this dream come true tonight in St. Louis.”
With the effort Townley moved up dramatically in the overall Eastern Lites points chase (7th o/a), while Lange is only three points out of first overall.

This past weekend at St. Louis' Edward Jones Dome, Hibbert not only made the AMA Supercross Lites class main event, he also nearly cracked the top ten for the first time this season - finishing a solid 11th overall in the highly competitive field.
"I practiced hard during the week and think I got my timing down better than I had in Atlanta," said Hibbert. "I caught a couple breaks, kept mistakes to a minimum and wound up with a descent finish
- definitely something positive to build on."
Hibbert made the St. Louis main event with a solid 6th in the talent- stacked first heat race which included Atlanta winner Ryan Dungey, St. Louis winner Ben Townley and multi MX Nationals winner Mike Alessi and his brother Jeff.
Next up for Hibbert is this Friday's (March 9th) running of the Daytona Supercross By Honda at Daytona International Speedway.
Hibbert is riding Artic Cat sleds and Yamaha dirt bikes this winter.
