Welcome to the MonsterArmy

March 20, 2006

CARLSBAD, Calif., (March 17, 2006) – Monster wave surfing
extraordinaire Shane Dorian is the latest action sports athlete to
join the Monster Energy team and will run the iconic ripped glowing
green “Claw M” at major big-wave surfing competitions around the
world. Dorian has signed a multi-year deal and will help promote
Monster Energy’s brand marketing initiatives and also represent the
company as an “official surf ambassador”.

A former Hawaiian surfing champ at age 11, Dorian went on to win
multiple events on the prestigious ASP World Championship Tour event circuit and was always a world title contender. The 1987 Gotcha Pro champion at Sandy Beach (Hawaii), Dorian surfed on the ASP Tour from 1993 to his recent retirement in 2004 – one of his many career
highlights coming in 2000 when he won the Billabong Pro and finished
ranked 4th overall on the ASP World Tour.

Dorian, known as a pioneer in the avant-garde new school style
surfing combining aerial tricks with his fluid, hard-charging, hard-
carving surf technique wrought in Hawaii, has focused his energy
recently on big wave surfing and the highly insane tow-in surfing
made popular in recent years at such places at the Cortes Banks and
Todos Santos.

Dorian’s alignment with Monster Energy comes appropriately at time
when he’s focused his energies on Monster waves, backed by Monster
Energy when he competes on building-size waves at events such as the Billabong XXL, Quiksilver Eddie and the Jaws contest.

“I’ve been drinking Monster Energy for a while now, made the connection with some sponsorship and am definitely looking forward to representing Monster Energy at big wave contests all over the world
this summer,” said Dorian. “Monster surf, Monster drinks – it’s a
given.”
