Hibbert Wins AMSOIL Duluth National Pro Open
November 27, 2007
Thief River Falls, Minn. (Nov. 26, 2007) - Monster Energy/Arctic Cat`s Tucker Hibbert took his first win of the season at the World PowerSports Association (WPSA) Snowmobile Tour`s AMSOIL Duluth National.
Saturday, Hibbert was the number one qualifier for the Pro Super Stock class but was unable to put together a podium finish in the final event. He had a mid-pack start, worked his way up to sixth on lap four and held that position the remainder of the race.
Frustrated and determined, Hibbert was untouchable Sunday winning all three qualifiers and the final event of the Pro Open class. He had a fifth place start in the 24-lap 15-rider final, stayed calm and patient knowing he couldn`t charge too hard on what he called “the gnarliest track” he had ever ridden on. On lap 15, his patience paid off as he made the pass for first place on leader No. 837 Ross Martin in the most challenging section of the track, an uphill rhythm section on the backside of the course. Hibbert quickly pulled away from Martin but wasn`t in the clear, as the track became rougher and congested with lapped riders. Hibbert held on all 24 laps to take his first AMSOIL Duluth National win since 2002.
Hibbert`s next stop is the WPSA Snowmobile Tour`s Air Force Canterbury National in Shakopee, Minn. The double-header event runs Jan. 11-13, 2008. Check out Tucker Hibbert - #68 Monster Energy/Arctic Cat
“I didn`t expect the track to be as good as it was with the warm weather we`ve had and the lack of snow. They did a great job of putting together a challenging track. It was defiantly the gnarliest track I have ever ridden on. It was hard to find a rhythm and stay consistent. Fitness was a factor this weekend and I was able to stay strong but I had to be on my toes the entire time.” “Team Monster Energy/Arctic Cat worked really hard throughout qualifying to get the new sleds dialed in. I had awesome qualifying for the [Pro Super] Stock but wasn`t able to put things together in the final. The team and I sat down, talked about our mistakes and what we could do to improve for the Pro Open class. Our hard work paid off and we`re walking away from the first race of the season with a win. ”

Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s RyanVillopoto Named AMA/SPEED Athlete Of The Year!
Monster Energy-backed Mark Burkhart (Graves/Yamaha), the 2007 AMA Supermoto champion, was also nominated along with Villopoto
CORONA, Calif., (Nov. 19, 2007) – Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Ryan Villopoto was named this past weekend as the AMA/SPEED Athlete of the Year for his spectacular performances in the AMA Supercross and Outdoor Nationals seasons, along with his winning performance in the recent Motocross of Nations (Moto Des Nations) in Budds Creek, Md.
“Last year I watched Ricky get the award and it’s just awesome to be one of those guys,” said Villopoto from the stage at the AMA Awards banquet, of course referring to Monster Energy’s Ricky Carmichael who won the award in 2006.
Villopoto also congratulated the rest of the nominees, which included Monster Energy’s Mark Burkhart, the 2007 AMA Supermoto champion.
“I was pumped just to be nominated,” said Burkhart. “Congrats to Ryan. Glad another Monster guy won it!”
Villopoto, 19, from Poulsbo, Wash., won the Supercross West Lites title, then defended his Outdoor Nationals’ Lites crown. He highlighted his season when he spanked the rest of the world at the Motocross of Nations at Budds Creek, helping fellow Monster Energy-backed racers Carmichael and Tim Ferry (Monster Energy/Kawasaki) win the coveted Chamberlain Trophy as the world’s top motocross team.
“Everybody at Monster Energy would like to congratulate Ryan on an unreal season, capped off with the AMA and SPEED’s most prestigious award,” said John Lee, Monster Energy’s Director of Sports Marketing. “Ryan is one of the hardest-working guys in the sport and sets and excellent example for the rest of our Monster Army members. Monster Energy’s Mark Burkhart & Brandon Currie (Graves/Yamaha) Win Overall AMA Supermoto Titles!
Burkhart takes the o/a Supermoto win over defending champ Ward; Currie is tops Supermoto Lites class to give Monster Energy the overall championship sweep
CORONA, Calif., (Nov. 12, 2007) – Rather than resting on his points lead entering this Saturday’s AMA Supermoto finals and going through the race motions in conservative fashion, Monster Energy-backed supermoto racer Mark Burkhart (Graves/Yamaha) made an ass-kicking statement on Saturday, cracking off the day’s fastest lap time by nearly a second over Troy Herfoss (a more than second-and-a-half over defending champ Jeff Ward) in a run-away 4.5 second win.
Saturday’s bold performance by Burkhart at Morongo Casino Resort & Spa in Cabazon (Calif.), one that could have easily resulted in a lost front end in the dirt or sketch in a high speed breaking zone, was one for the record books as Burkhart would go on to secure his first-ever AMA Supermoto class overall title with a 3rd place finish on Sunday.
“I didn’t get to this point in the series by sitting back and waiting for things to happen,” said Burkhart. “I knew going in if I was going to win this, it was going to be straight up – charging as hard as I did all summer long.”
And when, on Sunday, he came around on the last lap in podium position (3rd) – title all but won? “I was pumped,” he said. “Glad I could bring the title home for Monster this summer.”
In Saturday’s eight-lap contest Burkhart pulled an excellent start and led following the first lap. The Ohioan then put his head down on the fast and technical track, leading the remaining laps to take the win. With Lee finishing 3rd, Burkhart’s lead for the overall championship was at 22 points over Lee with one race remaining.
“On Sunday I got another good start (4th), settled into a good pace and was able to get past Troy (Herfoss) on lap nine to make the podium,” said Burkhart. “Congrats to Wardy for a great season. Looking forward to defending the title next year.”
The second major AMA Supermoto title of the weekend went to Monster Energy’s Brandon Currie (Graves/Yamaha). Currie, who won the opening two rounds of the season, found himself pursuing rival David Pingree with only a couple races remaining on the schedule. But an unfortunate crash and subsequent injuries to Pingree would allow Currie to inherit the points lead – which he took full advantage of in winning the overall Lites championship.
“This is something I’ve worked very hard for and I’m stoked to have Monster on board with me on the Graves/Yamaha team,” said Currie. “I’d like to congratulate Pinger on fighting back from his injuries and making the finals this weekend that much more exciting. Winning the title’s a dream come true for me. Can’t wait to start the race season up next year.”

Monster Energy’s Grant Langston 2nd Overall @ Paris’ Bercy Supercross
Langston and Chad Reed battle for the overall win; Monster’s Jeremy McGrath is still the European’s favorite, holeshots a main and scores respectable 5th
CORONA, Calif., (Nov. 12, 2007) – Monster Energy’s Grant Langston raced to a 2nd place overall finish this past weekend at the 25th annual Bercy Supercross in front of an always animated crowd at Paris’ Palais-Omnisport (Nov. 9-11).
Langston was able to win the opening night’s race, then battled hard with former AMA Supercross champ Chad Reed in the following evenings’ action. When the dust settled Langston had gone 1-2-2 for 2nd overall for the Rest of the World team.
Also representing for Monster Energy, the European fans’ favorite, was the legendary Jeremy McGrath. McGrath’s highlight was pulling the holeshot on Friday in the main and finishing 5th overall against some of Europe’s top supercross racers.
In addition, Monster Energy-backed Sebastien Pourcel (Kawasaki/GPKR) contested the race and, according to a GPKR press release, “hurt his handlebars with his thorax.”

Monster Energy’s Mark Burkhart & Paul Currie (Graves/Yamaha) Poised To Sweep AMA Supermoto Titles!
Burkhardt leads the Supermoto class by 17 points; Currie is tops in Lites class by 21 points with the two remaining rounds scheduled for this weekend in Calif.
CORONA, Calif., (Nov. 8, 2007) – Monster Energy-backed supermoto racer Mark Burkhart (Graves/Yamaha) is on the cusp of motorycle racing history entering this last weekend of racing on the AMA Supermoto Championship tour.
Burkhart is poised to capture his first-ever premier AMA Supermoto class crown. But to do so he must hold off the series’ defending champion, motocross legend Jeff Ward, at this weekend’s season-ending doubleheader at Morongo Casino Resort & Spa in Cabazon, Calif. (Nov. 10-11).
“If it was just one more round I’d say I was sitting in good position,” said Burkhardt of his 17-point lead over Ward. “But with two more races in one weekend, it’s going to be a wild finish – a great weekend of supermoto racing for the fans.”
This past weekend in Texas Burkhart got out strong in the main and had moved up from 4th to 3rd by the fourth lap. On lap seven Burkhart was pushing it when, in a split second, he stuffed his front end in a dirt section of the track and went down to the ground. Able to keep his YZ450F running, Burkhart was up quick and managed to get back going in 6th place by the end of the seventh lap.
“I don’t know what I was thinking,” said Burkhart of the mistake.
Burkhart mounted a feverous charge after then race-leader Ward, picking off rider after rider until he was back in 4th place. At that point something went wrong with Ward’s bike and he had to surrender the lead. Burkhart moved from 4th to 3rd and was poised to take down World Supermoto star Sylvain Bidart for 2nd place, when he backed off to conserve his points.
For Paul Currie the title seems even more within reach following a 2nd place finish in Texas this past weekend. Currie’s lead over David Pingree is at 21 points with the two races remaining.
Next up for the 2007 AMA Supermoto Championship is the final rounds at Morongo Casino Resort & Spa in Cabazon, Calif., Nov. 10-11.

Monster Energy’s Grant Langston and Jeremy McGrath Set To Roll @ Paris’ Bercy Supercross This Weekend
Langston’s the world’s hottest rider right now and McGrath put the Bercy SX on the map - so the season’s last great supercross event should go off!
CORONA, Calif., (Nov. 8, 2007) – Monster Energy will be well-represented this weekend at the 25th annual Bercy Supercross as two-time champion Grant Langston, fresh off his Vegas U.S. Open win, gets set to make it three titles in front of a raucous crowd at Paris’ Palais-Omnisport (Nov. 9-11).
“I’ve been fortunate to win Bercy twice and those wins are some of the best highlights of my international racing career,” said Langston. “This year’s race should be intense. Winning Bercy will allow someone to carry that added momentum into the Anaheim supercross opener in January.” Note: Langston will be part of the “Rest of the World” team, competing for the team title versus teams representing the United States and France.
And representing that United States team will be none other than Jeremy “Showtime” McGrath, the racer who probably did the most to help elevate the popularity of the long-running Paris supercross event.
“Bercy’s always a blast,” said McGrath. “I’ve got some great memories from racing that event and I’m looking forward to coming back this weekend. The fans there are nuts and the event’s definitely got its place in history with the sport of supercross.”
In addition, Monster Energy-backed Sebastien Pourcel (Kawasaki/GPKR) will contest the race for the French team.
