Pobrecito Racing Fairs Well at Dirt Track Grand Championship

Pobrecito Racing members were able to come out with respectable results as they competed in the amateur nationals in dirt track racing. Frank finished 6th in his class with his best results being 3rd place podiums in the short track and half-maile. T.J. was able to crack the Top Ten this year with a 6th place overall in the 40+ class. His best finish was 6th in the half mile, but his consistency paid off in the long run. Joseph was only able to compete in two races due to age restrictions but came home with a couple 4th place finishes and 5th place overall in the 75cc to 150cc 4-stroke class. We thank all of our sponsors for helping us to get to this stage in our careers. The AMA Racing Dirt Track Grand Championships is the premier amateur dirt-track racing event in the country. The week of racing features competition in all four dirt-track disciplines -- short track, TT, the half-mile and the mile -- and crowns national champions based on their accumulated points from each individual event. Racers from around the country converged on Du Quoin, Ill., this summer to battle for national championship honors, as well as the AMA Dirt Track Horizon Award, which honors the amateur racer poised to make a statement on the pro level.

Pobrecito Racing...

is a family affair consisting of brothers, Frank, #41 (52 yrs old), Adam, #63s (44 yrs old), T.J., #66 (42 yrs old) and our nephew Joseph, #63 (12 yrs old). We also help pro riders Kris Bunch, #65y and Jon Goodwin #26p. Recently we added Steve Lannom from New Athens, IL to our line-up and hope to add Andrew Luker from California. Andrew recently placed 2nd overall in the 85cc Mod (7-11) class and 3 overall in the 85cc Dtx (9-13) class at the AMA Racing Dirt Track Grand Championships in DuQuoin, IL.

We travel throughout Illinois racing in AMA sanctioned events such as the District 17 Dirttrack Series, AMA Amateur Grand Nationals, Steve Nace Midwest Indoor Winter Dirt Track Series and Belleville Enduro Team events.

When we are not racing, like most amateur racers, we work to suport our habit. Frank is an independent auto detailer and T.J. works as a government contractor on Scott AFB. Joseph works hard at being a straight A student.

Our 2008 season was a very successful year as it was Frank's first year back in dirttrack in 30 years and he showed that he hasn't lost a thing. He ended the season 5th in points in the 50+ age class and placed 6th overall at the AMA Black Cat Gold Dirt Track Grand Championships. 2008 was T.J.'s first year in competitive racing and proved to be successful by finishing the year ranked 6th in the 40+ age class and earned and overall 11th at the AMA Black Cat Gold Dirt Track Grand Championships.

Joseph began his racing career this past winter and was able to garnish 1st place in the 86 - 160cc class.
