Ask anyone in actions sports “Who rules the vert ramp?” and “Jamie Bestwick” will be an immediate answer. This British import has raised the game of what riding vert is all about, and that’s translated into three AST Dew Tour titles in a row, multiple X Games gold medals, and every other accolade BMX can throw his way. While some riders do high airs, some have big tricks, and some have rad style, Bestwick wraps all three into a package that cannot be duplicated. Bestwick has been obliterating the competition for years, but from the rumors coming out of the action sports Mecca that is Camp Woodward, he has yet to pull out some of his biggest tricks in contests—because he hasn’t needed to. This former airplane mechanic and Moto GP fanatic is also dialed on a park course (he rarely competes in Park, though), and for the past two years the AST has used him as an announcer during Park contest broadcasts.
With a wife, a son, and freshly built house outside of State College, PA, Jamie is the epitome of the perfect family man. But his unmatchable skill on a bike combined with the funniest sense of humor in the game makes him one of the most admired riders in BMX.
